The current Andeor catalogue distinguishes a six-hour excursion from Trou d’Eau Douce and a seven-hour excursion from Mahébourg. Those durations are not six or seven hours on the island. Compare the departure area, stop sequence, lunch arrangement and the island interval as separate parts of the day.

Choose the cruise because you want its complete outing. Choose a return crossing when your priority is time ashore and you are arranging the island activities separately. Neither is universally better. The useful comparison is how each fits your party and the amount of moving between boats, shore and activities that you want.

Trou d’Eau Douce or Mahébourg?

Andeor offers two published catamaran itineraries through its partners. From Trou d’Eau Douce, the route combines GRSE waterfall and Île aux Cerfs with lunch at Île aux Margenie. From Pointe des Régates in Mahébourg, the cruise follows the southeast lagoon towards GRSE and the Île aux Cerfs area, with barbecue lunch aboard.

Both include drinks and exclude hotel transfers. The Mahébourg itinerary allows for changes to swimming stops and the route according to conditions. Do not assume that either full-day cruise gives you a full day ashore.

Which trip works for a family?

The featured Trou d’Eau Douce trip accepts guests from eight years old. The Mahébourg cruise lists toddler rates for ages one to three, child rates for four to eleven and adult rates from twelve. These fare bands do not establish arrangements for babies under one.

A boat transfer for a beach-first day

A return boat transfer makes sense when the shore is the main event. You travel across, spend your time on the island and return at the agreed time. A transfer is not automatically a guided excursion, a lunch package or a watersports ticket.

Ask which jetty your boat leaves from, where it lands and how the return works. Some departures are based in Trou d’Eau Douce; the island’s own shuttle uses Pointe Maurice. Follow the meeting point attached to your booking.
