A boat transfer for a beach-first day
A return boat transfer makes sense when the shore is the main event. You travel across, spend your time on the island and return at the agreed time. A transfer is not automatically a guided excursion, a lunch package or a watersports ticket.
Ask which jetty your boat leaves from, where it lands and how the return works. Some departures are based in Trou d’Eau Douce; the island’s own shuttle uses Pointe Maurice. Follow the meeting point attached to your booking.
A catamaran cruise for a day on the water
Choose a catamaran if the sailing, time aboard and shared atmosphere appeal as much as the beach. A full-day itinerary can combine Île aux Cerfs with other east-coast stops. Read the actual stop list and ask how much island time remains after sailing and lunch.
The GRSE waterfall is a separate mainland stop. It belongs on your itinerary only if your chosen trip includes it. Likewise, snorkelling, drinks and transfers between activity bases should be checked individually.
A private charter for your own group
A private boat gives your party exclusive use under the charter’s terms. It does not mean every itinerary change or extra activity is included. Agree the route, group capacity, meal arrangements and return point before paying.
Compare the whole-group total with the per-person total of a shared trip. Check children’s arrangements, boarding access and weather cancellation terms with the operator.
What to check before you reserve
The best fit is the trip whose written details match your priorities. Keep these questions alongside the booking panel.
- What is the exact meeting point and check-in time?
- How long do we spend on Île aux Cerfs itself?
- Are hotel transfers, lunch and drinks included?
- Does the route include the GRSE waterfall?
- What happens if sea conditions change?
| Your priority | Consider | Check first |
|---|---|---|
| Beach time | Return transfer | Return time and jetty |
| Sailing and stops | Shared catamaran | Itinerary and meals |
| Your group only | Private charter | Capacity and total price |
