Two places in one itinerary

The waterfall is not on Île aux Cerfs. It sits along Grande Rivière Sud-Est on the east side of Mauritius. A trip that includes both connects a river visit with time around the offshore island.

This distinction matters when comparing boat trips. A direct island transfer does not imply a waterfall visit. Look for GRSE or Grand River South East in the actual itinerary.

Ask how the river visit works

Check how the operator reaches the waterfall, whether a boat change is involved and how boarding works. The arrangements depend on the vessel, the itinerary and conditions.

Ask if the stop is a viewing visit or includes any other activity. Do not assume you will walk to the falls or swim there because the excursion mentions a waterfall.

Balance the waterfall with island time

Every extra stop takes part of the day. If your main wish is an extended beach stay, compare the time ashore with the time spent moving between places. A richer itinerary can be enjoyable without being the right choice for every group.

Ask about the order of stops and where lunch takes place. Treat the itinerary as subject to the operator’s conditions rather than as a guarantee that each stop will happen in the same order.
